PALE WEASEL

HIMALAYAN STOAT

The stoat is found in northern Scotland but rare in southern England. The palaearctic race of Himalayan stoat is found in Kashmir only. Rodents are the preferred food of the Himalayan stoat but sometimes attack hares and game birds. The wolves from northern slopes of the Himalaya are greyish - brown in colour. The face and limbs are generally redish and the lower surface a dingy white. The winter coat is dense with grey or bright buff under wool. The body length 95-110 cm, height 75-80 cm, tail 35-40 cm and weight 35-55 kg. It hunts during the night hours and hare, fox, antelope, and rodents etc. are primary food items. The colour of the face is grey and the body is silver-grey.  The silver-grey body may vary to yellowish buff. The hairs on the back are soft, thick, and black at the base.   SNOW LEOPARD :- Family-Felidae, sp-Panthera uncia, Altitude-3660 to 5185m. The snow leopard is the rarest animal and is like a great cat but smaller than the common leopard. The length is  100 -110 cm and the tail is 90 cm. The coat colour is pearl grey and paler spots are distributed all over the body and tail. The ventral part of the body is white.
